Community Center Building Committee elects Chester co-chair, nominates Meyer Schwerb chair

LINCOLN — June 1, 2022 — Lincoln's new Community Center Building Committee elected Sarah Chester co-chair and nominated Ellen Meyer Schwerb as chair pending her acceptance at its first meeting. Select Board liaison Jonathan Dwyer and Town Administrator Tim Higgins told members the summer's central task is building a funding request for an owner's project manager and architect to bring to a November special town meeting. Member Tim Christenfeld cited the school building project's $750,000 figure as the order-of-magnitude benchmark. Higgins said two existing conceptual designs on the Hartwell campus — one infill, one new construction on a secondary green — will be the starting point because "you're left with a very limited universe of options" given wetlands, parking and the need to keep Hartwell Maine operating. Both officer votes were unanimous by roll call. The committee will meet next on June 22 at 7 p.m.
