LINCOLN — The Community Center Building Committee approved a $39,641 Rain Garden change order while confronting significant construction delays. The project, originally targeted for August 2025 completion, now faces a December 22, 2026 deadline with roughly $7 million spent to date versus an original projection of $17 million at this stage. Contractor Hutter Construction must submit a recovery schedule by May 6 or face liquidated damages of approximately $1,000 per day.

The committee also approved combined change orders with a net withdrawal of $919 from contingency, including a $17,644 stage credit, $8,725 security upgrade, and $5,135 vent relocation to avoid solar panel conflicts. Extended consultant costs could reach $50,000 per month if delays continue.
