Conservation Commission approves five-year knotweed treatment plan

LINCOLN — Commission authorizes five-year knotweed treatment. The Conservation Commission unanimously approved a five-year authorization for Battle Road Farm resident Debra Daugherty to chemically treat Japanese knotweed in protected wetlands using aquatic glyphosate via stem injection and targeted foliar application. The Commission waived the required $100 bylaw filing fee for the restoration project.
Daugherty has been removing knotweed manually two to three times annually for three years through the department's "Nip the Knotweed" volunteer program but observed no visible impact on the 40-by-20-foot stand. The authorization includes conditions on application timing. The Commission also approved Eversource tree removals and reappointed Ari Kurtz as Chair.
