Dark Skies Committee · Meeting of July 22, 2026

LINCOLN — The Dark Skies Committee approved its lighting survey for publication and agreed to develop a grant strategy to fund compliance improvements. The committee reviewed Chapter 1 of the survey, prepared by Susan KatzSliski, for publication in the Lincoln Squirrel in three chapters, and approved the format for subsequent chapters. Louise Bergeron, a non-member, agreed to draft a grant strategy proposal for obtaining funding for light measurements, consulting, fixtures, and electrical modifications.

The committee discovered that the Commons facility has over 100 noncompliant lights and is developing a compliance plan with a punch list of priorities to be reviewed with the building inspector.
