LINCOLN — Green Energy Committee recommended pausing Class 1 renewable energy credit purchases pending alternative program approval. Committee member Shorb reported that town counsel had raised concerns about using a revolving fund, while energy advisors questioned the climate effectiveness of such purchases. The committee discussed four alternative funding mechanisms before recommending the Select Board expand the program to include other climate mitigation, adaptation, or resiliency investments and initiate a 30-day public comment period.
The pause would end upon Select Board approval of a new program structure.
