Lincoln cuts ribbon on renovated net-zero pre-K-8 school

LINCOLN — October 28, 2022 — Lincoln dedicates renovated pre-K-8 school billed as state's first net-zero public school renovation. Officials cut the ribbon Friday on the 165,289-square-foot Lincoln School, 24 percent new construction and 76 percent renovation, powered by a 1.2-megawatt solar array with 1,570 rooftop and 1,146 carport panels. Select Board member Jennifer Glass, a former School Committee chair, traced eight town meeting votes from 2014 through 2022 and said the project is "an authentic reflection of our community." Superintendent Becky McFall credited former business administrator Buck Creel, who retired but stayed on as project manager. School Building Committee Chair Chris Fasciano said the panel held nearly 200 meetings over five and a half years. The Friends of Modern Architecture presented its Excellence in Modernism Award to the project team, including architects SMMA and Ewing Cole, OPM CHA Companies and builder Consigli Construction.
