Lincoln School Committee approves three-year teacher contract, seeks $250,000 building study

LINCOLN — March 6, 2014 — Lincoln School Committee ratifies LTA contract and pivots to a Lincoln-funded renovation study. The committee unanimously approved a three-year Lincoln Teachers Association contract through August 2017 with raises of 2.5, 2.5 and 1 percent, folding in new evaluation and reduction-in-force language Superintendent Becky McFall called "cutting edge in Massachusetts." Members also finalized plans to seek up to $250,000 at Town Meeting — $200,000 base, $50,000 reserve — for a Lincoln-only school renovation study, with Business Administrator Buck Creel warning that even at that price "we shouldn't kid ourselves that this is going to wind up to be the exact project amount." Chair Jennifer Glass said the funds would come from the stabilization fund, with a special town meeting eyed for late October. The committee also approved Birches School for three more years (enrollment up from 8 to 21), opted out of school choice, and accepted $1,718,627.22 in warrants inflated by a snow-day shift.
