Lincoln School Committee eyes above-guidance request for instructional coaching relaunch

LINCOLN — December 15, 2022 — Lincoln School Committee previews $121,000 FY24 gap, eyes coaching relaunch as top above-guidance ask. Administrator for Business and Finance Mary Ellen Normen walked members through a $51,075 base gap on the Lincoln campus and a $70,238 gap at Hanscom, both closable through personnel control account reductions. Superintendent Becky McFall said the Finance Committee had signaled capacity for $200,000 to $400,000 in above-guidance items, with instructional coaching — 2.5 FTE at Lincoln and 1.0 at Hanscom — as the priority: "If we were only putting an above-guidance budget forward with one item, it would be the instructional coaching launch." The committee unanimously authorized Metco applications not to exceed 91 students, adopted a pre-Labor Day 2023-24 calendar to align with Lincoln-Sudbury, and was warned of an FY23 utilities deficit driven by solar panels now delayed until May or June. The superintendent search has drawn 24 applicants, with finalists due Jan. 12.
