Lincoln School Committee unanimously appoints Becky McFall as superintendent
LINCOLN — March 15, 2012 — Lincoln School Committee unanimously taps Wellesley's Becky McFall as next superintendent. After a five-month search assisted by Future Management Systems Inc. and a 12-member screening committee chaired by Julie Dobrou, the committee chose McFall over Fitchburg Superintendent André Ravenelle, with all five members backing her on a roll call before the formal motion. Members praised McFall's "consistency without conformity" approach, METCO commitment rooted in her South Los Angeles upbringing, and what Wellesley colleagues called her role as "a calm and stabilizing force." Considerations included her lack of prior superintendent experience and limited building project work; the committee said both were "learnable." McFall accepted after the committee returned from executive session. Separately, EwingCole presented designs for the $34 million, 85,000-square-foot Hanscom Middle School targeting a 40 percent energy reduction below ASHRAE and LEED Silver, with completion anticipated spring 2015.
