Lincoln Select Board approves $750,000 Lincoln-Sudbury transfer from excess and deficiency fund

LINCOLN — June 10, 2022 — Lincoln Select Board clears $750,000 Lincoln-Sudbury reserve transfer ahead of June 30 deadline. The board voted 3-0 Friday to authorize the regional school committee to move $250,000 from the excess and deficiency fund to OPEB and $500,000 to stabilization, leaving $425,000 in E&D. Town Administrator Tim Higgins said state certification arrived late this year, and the passive 45-day consent route under the regional agreement would have run past the fiscal-year cutoff: the money had to be used "during the period for which it is certified." The Lincoln Finance Committee recommended approval the prior evening. Member Jonathan Dwyer moved the authorization, citing the expectation that Sudbury would take parallel action and avoid sending the matter to either town's Town Meeting. The board then entered executive session for litigation before its annual goals-and-priorities retreat.
