Lincoln Select Board opens town meeting warrant, sets mileage rate at 56 cents

LINCOLN — January 13, 2014 — Lincoln Select Board opens 2014 warrant and frames four-scenario path on school building. The board voted Jan. 13 to open the annual town meeting warrant, set mileage at 56 cents, and approved a regulatory agreement preserving 30 affordable units at The Commons in Lincoln, owned by Benchmark. Member Noah Eckhouse pushed back against hiring new consultants on the school building project — denied re-entry to the MSBA pipeline — and sketched four scenarios for town meeting: roughly $1 million-per-year rolling repairs, a $20 million state-assisted envelope-and-roof project, a $30 million town-funded medium project, and a $50 million comprehensive project. Resident Adam Greenberg told the board prior cost estimates "seem to be very soft," citing a $50,000 switchgear repair against an earlier figure above $150,000. The board also trimmed the legal budget from $120,000 to $115,000 to hit the 2.5 percent guideline and named a Bedford Road service stub "Tracey's Corner."
