Lincoln Select Board promotes Juhola to fire lieutenant, drafts LS study charges

LINCOLN -- December 6, 2010, Lincoln Select Board promotes fire lieutenant and lays groundwork for parallel Lincoln-Sudbury study committees. The board unanimously promoted firefighter Ben Juhola to lieutenant on Chief Cattoni's recommendation, filling the vacancy left by Lt. John Whalen, who became deputy chief in Sudbury. Most of the meeting was a working discussion of how to study the town's future at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, with Chair Gary Taylor, member Sarah Mattes and member Noah Eggas agreeing on two committees, one focused on improving LS, one on alternatives, plus a short-lived data group Eggas will scope for Dec. 13. Mattes warned that the LS panel is "so highly charged that it's very hard to sit…and not get involved emotionally." On 18 Twin Pond Lane, four bids came in, three from Deborah and Zach Woods at $600,000, $725,000 and $825,000 with extended financing terms, and one from Philip Greenspan at $407,000 cash, against an assessed value of $832,000; the board took no action. King Printing of Lowell won the town report printing contract at $6,005.15.
