Lincoln Selectmen Appoint Mary Day as Acting Assistant Town Administrator
LINCOLN — July 29, 2013 — Lincoln promotes longtime treasurer Mary Day to acting assistant town administrator in three-month trial. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved Town Administrator Tim Higgins' recommendation Monday, filling a vacancy created when Anita Scheipers left for Hubbardston. Day, the only internal applicant, will retain her treasurer/collector duties during the transition and be paid at the higher rate, Higgins said, citing her work lowering health insurance costs by more than $1 million and shepherding Section 18 adoption without strife. The board also approved a seven-day all-alcohol club license for The Groves at Lincoln after applicants withdrew a last-minute request to add lunch and Sunday brunch service. Chair Peter Braun warned shifting proposals "scared" the town. Police Chief Kevin Mooney updated the board on the July 17 homicide investigation, with four Lincoln officers working alongside state police and toxicology expected within two weeks.
