Lincoln Selectmen appoint new MAPC representative, set MPO ballot

LINCOLN — October 24, 2011 — Lincoln Selectmen appoint new MAPC representative and salute retiring superintendent. The board voted unanimously Oct. 24 to install the town's new Director of Land Use Planning and Permitting as Lincoln's representative to the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, succeeding Buzz Constable after roughly 30 years; Selectman Peter Braun asked the minutes to reflect that the appointment is conditioned on continued town employment, a first for Lincoln in this seat. The board also voted unanimously to cast Lincoln's Metropolitan Planning Organization ballot for Lexington's Richard Canale and an Arlington candidate, citing Battle Road Scenic Byway ties and Canale's advocacy on Crosby's Corner. Chair Sarah Mattis credited retiring Superintendent Mickey Brandenmeyer with stabilizing the budget and navigating Hanscom base housing privatization, calling him "beloved" by base families. Town offices move-out has slipped to early December over NSTAR and Comcast coordination; the Nov. 7 meeting moves to the Hartwell building.
