Lincoln selectmen approve two mutual aid pacts and tick-borne disease grant

LINCOLN — November 18, 2013 — Lincoln selectmen approve two regional mutual aid pacts and back tick-borne disease grant. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Nov. 18 to join the statewide Public Safety Mutual Aid Agreement under MGL Chapter 40 Section 4J and to authorize Chair Peter Braun to sign the Middlesex County Police Chiefs Interagency Mutual Aid Agreement, with Selectman Noah Eckhaus reporting that concerns about officer "self-activation" were resolved after meetings with Police Chief Kevin Mooney. The board also authorized Town Administrator Tim Higgins to sign a Community Innovation Challenge Grant application for a 15-town tick-borne disease database with UMass, cutting per-test costs from $200-$300 to $25. Higgins reported Lincoln's recycling rate has reached a record 39.2 percent. Capital Planning is weighing a $150,000 LED streetlight conversion as a possible capital exclusion, and the schools are preparing a roughly $650,000 March warrant article for a facilities study.
