Lincoln selectmen close 56-article town meeting warrant

LINCOLN -- January 24, 2011, Lincoln selectmen close a 56-article warrant and weigh $1.589M paving bid. The Board of Selectmen voted Jan. 24 to close the annual town meeting warrant, with Town Administrator Tim Higgins reporting the FY12 operating budget at 1.9 percent, just under the 2 percent guideline, and a tentative deal to share the schools' facilities manager with the town side. Aggregate Industries of Saugus came in low at $1.589 million on Route 117 paving, leaving roughly $200,000 in bond funds. A library fire-suppression project estimated at "north of $600,000" may shift from debt exclusion to CPA funding. Pat Phillips and Renell Fredrickson presented Lincoln-Sudbury comparative data showing per-student spending and MCAS results clustered with peer regional schools.
