Lincoln selectmen revise warrant to fund Lincoln School studies from stabilization in March

LINCOLN — February 13, 2014 — Lincoln selectmen redraft school warrant article to seek stabilization funds this March. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Feb. 13 to authorize signing the annual town meeting warrant with revised Article 11 language asking voters to transfer stabilization funds — up to roughly $250,000, by the School Committee's preliminary estimate — for architectural and engineering studies of Lincoln School renovation options. The transfer requires a two-thirds vote at the March 24 town meeting. Chair Peter Braun said the School Committee reversed an earlier plan to wait for a fall special town meeting after a resident urged acceleration and the multi-board meeting saw "near unanimous support." Selectman Noah Eckhaus reported the town pays "about $45,000 a year for street lighting" and that an LED conversion using NSTAR rebates and a Concord inter-municipal maintenance agreement could cut electricity costs "sub-10,000." MassDOT also notified the town that Route 2 access to The Commons will close for roughly 15 months starting in June.
