Parks and Recreation Committee · Meeting of February 23, 2026
LINCOLN — Parks and Recreation Committee approves prior minutes and green-lights spring facility work. The Community Preservation Committee approved a $70,000 request for the Wading Pool return line replacement, set for a Town Meeting vote in March, though a separate $8,000 feasibility study request for Tennis Courts 1 and 2 was denied. Director Jessica Downing reported that Tennis Surface Reconstruction Re-Bid will post March 9 with a fall completion date, and that spring program registration opens March 11.
Summer Camp registration, open since February 4, is filling quickly, with the department actively recruiting an Assistant Director for K-5, a Bus Monitor/Counselor, and an onsite Nurse. The Winter Carnival in late January drew 21 events and strong attendance; Memorial Day planning is underway in partnership with Veteran's Services and the Lincoln Minutemen.
