Scarecrow Classic Draws Record 700-Plus Runners in Lincoln
Lincoln's Select Board gave a shoutout this week to the town's annual Scarecrow Classic fun run, which drew its largest crowd yet, more than 700 runners, along Podmore Road in brisk, sunny fall weather.
LINCOLN --
COMMUNITY -- Select Board members opened their Oct. 19 meeting with thanks to everyone who took part in the Scarecrow Classic a day earlier. One member described "a fun run in the sun" with brisk fall conditions, noting the temperature was around 36 degrees at the start and warmed into the low 40s as runners gathered on Podmore Road. Board members put this year's turnout at more than 700 participants. Asked what a typical crowd looks like, members said the race has grown over the years from roughly 500 runners to the 600s in recent years, with this year marking the first time attendance topped 700.
