Select Board opens hearing on National Grid Concord Road gas-main replacement

LINCOLN — October 5, 2020 — Lincoln Select Board hears of Hanscom School COVID cases, opens National Grid gas-main hearing. Public Health Nurse Trish McGeehan told the board Monday that three new Lincoln cases the prior week came from one household and that two new cases had been identified hours earlier at Hanscom School, with cohorts quarantined and coordination underway with the Bedford and Hanscom boards of health. The Commons in Lincoln reported no new cases after 100 percent associate testing, and will now test skilled nursing employees weekly and 30 percent of other associates biweekly. Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School will run a one-time staff saliva PCR test through Ginkgo Bioworks. A senior drive-through flu clinic is set for Oct. 21 at Lincoln North. At 7 p.m., Chair James Craig opened a public hearing on National Grid's petition, presented by Mary Mulroney, to install roughly 2,173 feet of 12-inch gas main on Concord Road, replacing an existing 8-inch main — a project Town Administrator Tim Higgins called "a bit more complex" because of cross-border coordination with Concord and a dispute over whether the abandoned main should be removed, filled or left in place.
