Selectmen accept Chief Mooney's June retirement after 35 years

LINCOLN — January 27, 2014 — Lincoln Police Chief Kevin Mooney announces retirement after 35 years on the force. Mooney submitted his letter to the Board of Selectmen on Monday with an end-of-June effective date, giving the town five months for succession planning. Selectman Noah Eckhouse, the board's police liaison, called Mooney's career "an incredible trajectory" and credited him with embedding Lincoln in regional mutual aid, including the 2013 Watertown response. The board also unanimously promoted Crystal Feeley to treasurer/collector effective Feb. 1, voted unanimously to close the annual town meeting warrant, and appointed Vinit Patel and Kathleen Shepard as ZBA associate members. School Committee Chair Jennifer Glass said the committee will not seek its $650,000 feasibility study placeholder after the MSBA declined Lincoln's statement of interest, and is eyeing a fall special town meeting for a binding two-thirds vote on resubmission.
