Selectmen conditionally sign MSBA certifications for Lincoln School project

LINCOLN -- January 9, 2012, Lincoln selectmen conditionally back MSBA school filing as Airport Road frustration boils over. The board unanimously authorized Chair Sarah Mattis to sign two state-required certifications advancing the Lincoln School project to schematic design, contingent on a School Committee memo confirming that the "statement of support" language obligates the board only to call a special town meeting. Selectman Peter Braun, who sits on the School Building Committee, said the form's language was ambiguous: "What does seeking financial support mean?" The MSBA board takes up the PSR Jan. 25. Selectman Noah Eckhouse said his patience with the National Park Service over the 12 Airport Road group-home swap was "wearing thin" after nearly two years and $300,000 in Community Preservation funds invested in the parcel. The board also opened the town meeting warrant, closing Jan. 23, and signed onto a regional Community Innovation Challenge Grant for an affordable-housing monitoring database.
