Selectmen endorse 22 percent energy-cut plan, approve AKA Bistro hours

LINCOLN -- April 12, 2010, Lincoln selectmen endorse 22 percent energy cut and clear AKA Bistro hours change. The Board of Selectmen on April 12 unanimously endorsed a draft Energy Reduction Plan targeting a 22 percent cut in municipal energy use over five years against a 2009 baseline, the last piece needed for the town's Green Communities designation application due May 14. John Snow of the Green Energy Committee told the board schools account for more than half of Lincoln's energy use, with Brooks and Smith school buildings alone consuming 33 percent of the town's roughly $750,000 annual utility bill. The grant application, for up to $1 million from a $7 million statewide round, is due May 28. The board also amended its liquor regulations to permit AKA Bistro to sell alcohol 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays and noon to 11 p.m. Sundays, accepted the deed for the McDowell property, and approved closing Lincoln Road June 26 for the "Splash, Mash and Dash" children's triathlon.
