Selectmen interview Lt. Kevin Kennedy for Lincoln police chief, vote set for May 19

LINCOLN -- May 12, 2014, Lincoln Selectmen advance internal succession at police department, with formal vote next week. The board interviewed Lt. Kevin Kennedy on Monday as the sole candidate to succeed retiring Chief Kevin Mooney, citing 21 years of service, a 2005 Massachusetts bar admission, and supporting letters from the K-8 schools, Council on Aging, Parks and Recreation, the Rural Land Foundation and NEMLEC. Selectman Noah Eckhouse said "we have the best candidate we're going to find." Town Administrator Tim Higgins noted the town has "never hesitated to go outside" when needed. Former selectman and career prosecutor Penny Billings told the board, "We couldn't do better with a nationwide search." The board also unanimously promoted Patrice Brennan to assistant treasurer-collector and interviewed seven candidates for three at-large seats on a new Community Center Study Committee due to report to 2015 Town Meeting.
