LINCOLN — Transportation Coalition advances criteria for crosswalk selection and committee restructuring. Chair Margaret Olson and member Kim Bodnar are drafting revised charges for the Coalition, the Bicycles and Pedestrians Advisory Committee, and the Road Transportation Committee, citing undefined charges and potential duplication. The group discussed using Peter Furth's Level of Traffic Stress matrix to guide installation priorities, with the Route 117 and Tower Road crossing identified as a study site despite concerns over safety and cost.
The Ballfield Road circulation and repaving project is estimated at one million dollars and will appear as a standalone warrant article; a larger road repaving initiative is under Finance Committee review. Acting Chief Jon Wentworth reported a speed study completed for Bedford Road North, with multiple infrastructure projects — including water main work, a raised crosswalk at Old Town Hall Exchange, drainage work on Bedford Road, and a MassDOT Route 126 Bridge project lasting over five years — underway or scheduled to begin within months.
