Water Commission proposes 13 percent rate hike for fiscal year 2027.
Water Commission · Meeting of February 18, 2026
Lincoln Water Commissioners propose 13 percent user rate increase for fiscal 2027 following 10 percent hike in prior year. Water Superintendent Richard Nolli attributed the increase to a 119 percent spike in debt service stemming from the $8.4 million Bedford and Lincoln Road Water Main project and a four-year meter replacement program. Without the rate increase, Nolli said, the department's budget would fall below healthy operating thresholds by 2032.
The commission scheduled a rate hearing for March 3, 2026, at 7:00 PM and acknowledged that planned public outreach via Lincoln Talk and the Lincoln Squirrel had not yet occurred.
