Lincoln boards approve charge for Campus Master Planning Committee

LINCOLN — May 18, 2015 — Lincoln Selectmen and School Committee jointly approve Campus Master Planning charge and name nominating duo. The two boards on May 18 adopted the charge for a nine-member committee that will hire consultants to study traffic, parking, septic, wetlands and public-safety conditions for the Ballfield Road campus, where a renovated school and a proposed community center may share the site. The charge was amended to require "at least two" at-large members and to standardize the board-representative language. Selectman Peter Braun pushed back on requiring named boards to seat full members, warning against a "compulsory draft" of overcommitted volunteers; School Committee member Alice Maritzlis countered that boards "have an obligation to participate." Selectman Renel Frederickson and School Committee Chair Jennifer Glass were appointed as a two-person nominating subcommittee to bring a recommended slate to the June 1 joint meeting. Six at-large candidates were interviewed. The Selectmen also denied a second curb cut at 10 Beaver Pond Road on the Planning Board's recommendation and approved the 51-name annual reappointment slate.
