Lincoln Schools Set Aug. 31 as First Day of Classes

DATELINE — LINCOLN

Lincoln Public Schools has confirmed Monday, August 31 as the first day of classes for the 2026-2027 school year, with the district's first early dismissal following just two days later and two no-school days in the calendar's opening week of September.

Lincoln Public Schools posted its key dates for the new year: classes begin Monday, August 31, running a full day from 8 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Students get the year's first early dismissal on Wednesday, September 2, with schools letting out at 12:35 p.m., and there is no school Friday, September 4, or Monday, September 7. The district also posted its updated Student-Family Handbook for 2026-2027 for families to review before the opening bell. Principal Erich Ledebuhr leads Hanscom School K-8, while Sarah Collmer heads Lincoln School K-4 and Jay Peledge heads Lincoln School 5-8, as staff at all three buildings prepare to welcome students back.

Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, the regional district serving Lincoln and Sudbury students, pointed families to its own back-to-school materials, including school start-up and incoming-student information for summer 2026, as it likewise prepares to reopen for the fall term.
