Lincoln Select Board backs BPAC plan to pilot advisory shoulders on Baker Bridge Road

LINCOLN — October 19, 2020 — Lincoln Select Board endorses BPAC plan to pilot advisory shoulders on Baker Bridge Road in spring 2021. Committee member Bob, joined by Ginger Reiner, John Mendelsohn and Doug Carson, walked the board through a Northeastern University draft design developed with Police Chief Kevin Kennedy, DPW Superintendent Chris Bibbo and consulting engineer John VanCor under the federal MUTCD's experimentation process. Reiner cited a 250-response town survey in which 63 percent of parents said route safety blocks more student walking and biking. Resident John Ferris of 67 Baker Bridge Road said neighbors "honestly hold our breath" on the curves. Public Health Nurse Trish McGeehan reported 53 cumulative COVID cases and a Nov. 9 drive-through flu clinic with Walgreens. The board also appointed Finn McMillan as a call firefighter and confirmed a $2.247 million water bond signing for Nov. 2.
