Lincoln Selectmen approve new precinct map absorbing Hanscom into Precinct 2

LINCOLN — June 13, 2011 — Lincoln Selectmen approve new precincts and air concerns over $58.5 million school plan. The board on June 13 unanimously adopted a new two-precinct map presented by Town Clerk Susan Brooks, absorbing Hanscom Air Force Base into Precinct 2 after the 2010 census showed a significant population drop tied to base reconfiguration. Town Administrator Tim Higgins reported the third Hollingsworth property sale attempt opens for advertising June 29, with bids due July 28 and a 5,000-square-foot construction cap, and said FEMA awarded $40,000 in reimbursement against a $230,000 snow and ice overage. Selectman Noah Eckhaus, briefing the board on the school building project, said the committee's preferred Option 5B carries a $58.5 million price tag and a roughly $32.2 million town share assuming 45 percent MSBA reimbursement, calling it "a generation's worth of capex." Chair Sarah Mattes said the state-imposed schedule "undercuts our ability to be creative." The board also endorsed a 128 Quarter Coalition letter to MassDOT opposing rerouting of hazardous-materials trucks and remembered former selectman John Caswell, who died June 1.
