Lincoln Selectmen Award Community Center Study Contract, Promote Police Sergeant

LINCOLN — July 14, 2014 — Lincoln selectmen award community center feasibility contract and make three staff appointments at July 14 meeting. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to hire the consulting firm Abacus to conduct the town's community center feasibility study, following a unanimous recommendation from the Community Center Study Committee, which interviewed five finalists in a process overseen by Penny Billings. The board also voted unanimously to promote John G. Wentworth, a Lincoln officer since 1998, to the rank of sergeant following a written exam, oral interviews, and a multi-member review panel that included a domestic violence network executive director. Two additional appointments were approved unanimously: Melissa Marabella as full-time public safety dispatcher and Colleen Stansfield of Chelmsford as part-time Zoning Board of Appeals administrative assistant. Chair Ronnell Fredrickson announced a $249,000 state green-technology grant that will cover the full cost of converting approximately 290 town street lights and the school campus to LED fixtures with no out-of-pocket cost to taxpayers, with projected annual savings of $10,000 to $20,000.
