Lincoln Selectmen open March 28 town meeting warrant

LINCOLN — January 12, 2015 — Lincoln Selectmen open March 28 warrant as school and community center plans converge on Hartwell campus. The board voted unanimously to open the warrant after a joint session with the School Committee, School Building Advisory Committee and Community Center Study Committee, all reporting Feb. 1. School Committee Chair Jennifer Glass said town meeting will be asked to commit to a spending range of roughly $30 million to $45 million, decide whether to refile with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, and approve feasibility funds; an MSBA bid would require a two-thirds vote, possibly paired with a ballot question. Community Center Study Committee Chair Penny Billings said outreach points to a Hartwell-sited center integrated with the schools. Selectman Noah Eckhouse pushed for simplicity: "If it's not easy to understand, it really could get confusing." Town Administrator Tim Higgins won support for a $50,000 one-year DPW pilot on street sweepings disposal.
