Lincoln School Committee endorses Codman multi-sport court warrant article

LINCOLN — January 8, 2015 — Lincoln School Committee backs Codman sport court warrant, learns it may sign Minuteman pact. The committee voted unanimously Thursday to approve school property at Codman for a multi-sport court that Parks and Recreation Committee Chair Jonathan Dwyer will bring to March town meeting; Parks and Rec chose a portable, water-permeable surface that costs $20,000 more than poured concrete to satisfy Conservation Commission concerns. Town Manager Tim Higgins then told members that under DESE guidance the K-8 school committee — not town meeting — would be the signatory on any inter-municipal agreement with Minuteman Regional, where 10 of 16 towns have approved regional-agreement amendments tied to a roughly $100 million building project on a 16-month MSBA clock. "You haven't been at the table … and yet you're going to be asked in the end potentially to be a signatory," Higgins said. Lincoln sends three to five students total to Minuteman. Chair Jennifer Glass said a committee member will join the working group, which meets Wednesday morning.
