School, town clash over alcohol at Lincoln events

School Committee · Meeting of September 24, 2026

Lincoln School Committee stalls alcohol policy over land-ownership dispute. Select Board member Kim Bodnar and Assistant Town Administrator Dan Pereira pressed the committee on rules for the town's new community center, but members and the town disagreed over who owns the land beneath it and the district's athletic fields. School committee member Ken said the district wants both the town and any event organizer to indemnify it against lawsuits, warning "we don't want to have to hire lawyers ... pay any judgments." No vote was taken.

Separately, the committee approved a scaled-back $75,000 request for a building chairlift retrofit, took first readings on the FY28 budget guidelines and a state-mandated PROTECT Act policy, and heard that the Case Collaborative, which houses two classrooms at Lincoln School, finalized a new teachers' contract after months of negotiation. The Lincoln Scholarship Committee reported awarding $20,000 in community scholarships and increased Codman Scholarships to $7,500 a year.
