Lincoln School Committee Approves $150,000 Tuition Prepayment, Accepts $32,000 in Foundation Grants

LINCOLN — June 11, 2026 — Lincoln School Committee votes to prepay up to $150,000 in special education tuition and accepts $32,000 in foundation grants. The committee voted unanimously Thursday to authorize prepayment of out-of-district special education tuition from end-of-year operating funds, with Director of Business and Finance Angela Wang reporting that two placements are confirmed and a third likely for 2026-2027, none of which were included in the adopted budget. The committee also voted to accept nearly $32,000 in Lincoln School Foundation grants covering 13 funded proposals for the coming school year, including conference travel, a 3D printing project, and a National Art Education Conference trip developed by the art faculty over more than a year. Superintendent Perry Graham reported that the district's first-year literacy goal — that 50 percent of below-benchmark K-3 students would reach benchmark by spring — was not met, with Lincoln at 40 percent, Hanscom at 29 percent, and the district overall at roughly 33 percent; Graham told the committee, "The number is not the goal — the number is just a piece of information that helps give us some insight into how we're doing."
