Select Board continues Lincoln Wine and Cheese Shop license hearing to June 14

LINCOLN -- June 7, 2010, Lincoln Select Board delays vote on town's first retail beer and wine license to June 14. The board held a 90-minute hearing on Lincoln Wine and Cheese Shop LLC's application for 144 Lincoln Road, brought by owners Tom and Jennifer Blakely with attorney Stephen Miller. Member Noah Eckhouse said he would condition approval on a negotiated trash plan with direct abutter Jamie Banks, while member Sarah Mattis asked deliveries be confined to 10 a.m.–3 p.m. to avoid Lincoln Road congestion. The Planning Board cited "serious concerns" about a "material deviation" after the second building on the parcel was marketed as a two-family condo it says violates B-1 zoning. Chair Gary Taylor noted state law requires action within 30 days; Board of Health and ABCC approvals would still follow. The board also unanimously executed a McDowell property buyback option and adopted the Municipal Relief Act for fiscal 2010, and learned Lincoln's Green Communities grant was capped by the state at $140,000 after originally projecting up to $1 million.
