Lincoln selectmen grant Wine and Cheese Shop license with 9 p.m. closing condition

LINCOLN -- June 14, 2010, Lincoln selectmen approve Wine and Cheese Shop liquor license with neighbor-focused conditions. The Board of Selectmen voted 3-0 Monday to grant the Blakeley family's license for a freestanding South Lincoln shop, conditioned on a 9 p.m. closing hour matching Donelan's Market, no deliveries before 8 a.m., and resolution of Board of Health and other permitting issues within 90 days or a return appearance. Chair Gary Taylor cited proximity to residential units; Selectman Noah Eckhouse said "our purview is really the license" and pushed for a defined timeline. Selectman Sarah Mattis used the close of the hearing to criticize Lincoln Journal coverage by Neal Kleinberg, saying "shame on him" and that state law had required the license to advance without an address. The board also appointed Jonathan Ayotte of Marlborough as a call firefighter and scheduled a special meeting Monday to award a roughly $35,000 owner's project representative contract.
