Selectmen defer Airport Road affordable housing auction one week

LINCOLN -- November 1, 2010, Lincoln Selectmen defer Airport Road affordable housing auction after Eckhaus raises control concerns. The board declined Nov. 1 to authorize a treasurer's auction of 12 Airport Road under MGL Chapter 60 Section 77B with conditions requiring five affordable units and a permanent housing restriction; Selectman Noah Eckhaus said the town could "play a little bit of a shell game" by selling to the Lincoln Housing Trust without provisions to maximize return. Chair Gary Taylor and Town Administrator Tim Higgins agreed to revisit the conditions at the Nov. 8 workshop. State Rep. Tom Conroy used the same meeting to recap the Municipal Relief Act and hear Lincoln asks on NSTAR tree-trimming, municipal liquor licensing and health-insurance plan design. Higgins reported Lincoln's OPEB liability has fallen from roughly $60 million to $38-$39 million, and that eight communities remain in the regional paramedic program, which has won the Boston EMS Council Innovation Award.
