Lincoln School project cleared by MSBA to enter schematic design

LINCOLN — February 2, 2012 — Lincoln School project advances to schematic design as teachers protest search committee makeup. The School Committee learned the Massachusetts School Building Authority cleared the project Jan. 25, one of four statewide, with a schematic design submission due June 7, an MSBA vote July 25, and a likely Nov. 6 community ballot. LTA co-presidents Terri Green and Fred Lipton read a letter calling two teacher seats on the 12-member superintendent search committee "disrespectful to us as professionals" and faulted the absence of Hanscom and METCO parent representation. The committee unanimously approved a $9,703,367 FY13 appropriation request within a $10,829,109 operating budget, a roughly $55,000 ROM Tek waterless restroom and storage shed near the tennis courts presented by Parks and Recreation Director Dan Ferreira, a 2012-13 calendar with students starting Sept. 4, withdrawal from School Choice, and a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Policy required under the town's Green Communities grant.
