Lincoln Select Board approves NSTAR tree list and Sunday liquor hours

LINCOLN — May 16, 2011 — Lincoln Select Board approves NSTAR tree removals, advances Airport Road group home, and questions school project costs. The board voted unanimously May 16 to accept a revised roadside tree-takedown list negotiated by Tree Warden Ken Bassett and DPW Superintendent Chris Bibbo, with NSTAR funding 11 replacement sugar maples and sparing a large oak near the Carroll School. Housing Trust representative Pamela Gallup said the just-issued RFP for a five-bedroom group home at 12 Airport Road, due June 17 under a 99-year ground lease, would bring the town to 242 Subsidized Housing Inventory units — "set for the next decade" against the Chapter 40B threshold. On the Lincoln School building project, where 11 options run from roughly $30 million to nearly $70 million, Selectman Noah Eckhals said "the time for hard thinking is right now," urging a price-driven brief to the School Building Committee. The board also endorsed the Battle Road Scenic Byway Corridor Management Plan and amended its restaurant liquor regulations to allow 10 a.m. Sunday service.
