Lincoln Select Board endorses police body and dashboard camera program for FY22

LINCOLN — November 2, 2020 — Lincoln Select Board endorses Chief Kevin Kennedy's $61,400 police body and dashboard camera proposal for FY22. The 3-0 vote, on a motion by member Jennifer Glass, advances a request for 16 body-worn cameras, five cruiser dashcams and a rear-seat camera, with cloud storage meeting FBI and CJIS standards and an estimated $10,425 annual recurring cost. Kennedy told the board cameras are now "expected of police departments" and cited Ipswich, Sherborn, Concord and the State Police as peers. The board also voted 3-0 to sign $2,247,000 in water bonds at 0.915 percent after the town's AAA rating was reconfirmed, heard a preview of a February townwide anti-racism film program built around "I'm Not Racist, Am I?" presented by residents Pamela Jones and Judy Merrick, and walked through Gov. Charlie Baker's new mask, curfew and gathering-limit orders with town nurse Trish, who reported 56 cumulative Lincoln COVID cases.
