Lincoln Select Board reschedules annual election to June 15, eyes June 13 for Town Meeting

LINCOLN — May 4, 2020 — Lincoln pushes annual election to June 15 and targets June 13 for an outdoor Town Meeting under a tent. The Board of Selectmen voted 3-0 Monday to reschedule the election, with Chair Jennifer Glass arguing the town must "hold the 13th as our deadline" given a 30-day post-state-of-emergency clock and a warrant signed in late February. Public Health Nurse Trish McGeehan reported 29 positive cases and a fifth death — all five at The Commons in Lincoln — and recommended rescinding the local face-covering order so Gov. Charlie Baker's May 6 statewide order governs. The board also authorized Town Administrator Tim Higgins to seek state Department of Revenue permission to incur liabilities above appropriations for anticipated COVID reimbursements, adopted MGL Ch. 44 §33B for fiscal 2020, and appointed Terry Perlmutter and Jane O'Rourke to the Council on Aging.
