Lincoln Selectmen and Finance Committee recommend passing over Minuteman amendments

LINCOLN — March 24, 2014 — Lincoln Selectmen and Finance Committee both move to pass over Minuteman regional agreement amendments. Meeting jointly Monday for the second consecutive session, both boards voted unanimously to recommend Town Meeting pass over Article 28, citing the absence of finalized state regulations on a proposed non-resident "facility fee" and dilution of Lincoln's vote under a new weighted formula. Selectman Peter Braun stressed Lincoln's 44-year foregone tax base on 47 acres of host land and said the town has not been "given adequate weight." Finance Committee Chair Lara Sander, calling in remotely, said she could not support the amendments "without the facility fee in place." Commissioner Mitchell Chester's memo targets May for initial Board of Education review and October 2014 for final approval. The boards will meet at 8:45 a.m. Saturday to coordinate Town Meeting statements.
