Lincoln Selectmen approve Hanscom fiber conduit, honor police Marathon response

LINCOLN — May 6, 2013 — Lincoln Selectmen honor police force, approve Hanscom fiber conduit, hear Route 2 grievances. Chief Kevin Mooney and Lt. Kevin Kennedy brought six officers to the May 6 meeting to recount Lincoln's NEMLEC-coordinated response to the Marathon bombings and the death of former Lincoln special officer Sean Collier; Selectman Noah Eckhouse said "the sons of Lincoln once again" had answered a regional call. The board unanimously approved MSO Tech Inc.'s 60-to-70-day conduit trenching across Mill Street, Route 2A and Hanscom Drive subject to DPW Superintendent Chris Bibbo's conditions. Brooks Road and Cambridge Turnpike residents, led by Dan Boynton of 34 Cambridge Turnpike and Max Klein of 14 Brooks Road, said MassDOT's May 2 sound-wall denial still rests on noise data from 1995, 1996 and 2002; resident Steve Duranzi estimated 974 feet of jersey-barrier sound panels at roughly $700,000. The board also renewed a school-feasibility bond anticipation note at 0.475 percent and split the veterans officer role, appointing Priscilla Leach as Veteran Services Officer ($1,000 stipend) and Jim Hogan as Veterans Programming Officer ($500).
