Lincoln Selectmen name four Route 2 service roads in unanimous vote

LINCOLN — December 9, 2013 — Lincoln Selectmen name four Route 2 service roads and preview a no-override FY15 budget. The board unanimously approved Emerson Road, Horses Crossing, Red Maple Lane and Oak Knoll for service roads created by the Route 2 project, deferring a fifth after an out-of-state owner objected to "Bedford Path." Town Administrator Tim Higgins told the board the base budget runs roughly $20,000 under the Finance Committee's 2.5 percent guideline, with $37,000 in above-guideline departmental requests, and the FinCom plans to push the GASB trust contribution to $450,000 against a liability above $40 million. Chair Peter Braun pressed to move a $10,000 IT maintenance request into facilities maintenance, saying it "should actually not be something we have to beg for." Selectman Noah Eckhaus, citing the MSBA's rejection of Lincoln's school statement of interest, urged early selectmen engagement with the School Committee on what could become a "tens of millions of dollars" decision. The board also appointed Patrick Green to the Lincoln Cultural Council and awarded the annual town report printing contract to King Printing of Lowell at $4,032.
