Lincoln selectmen post pre-town-meeting session to preserve quorum-lowering option

LINCOLN — June 8, 2020 — Lincoln selectmen preserve option to lower Saturday's town meeting quorum. The board on June 8 confirmed an 8:45 a.m. special virtual meeting before the 9:30 a.m. June 13 Annual Town Meeting, posted by Town Administrator Tim Higgins under newly signed Chapter 92 of the Acts of 2020, which allows selectmen, with the moderator, to reduce the 100-voter quorum on seven days' notice. "I had to move quickly over the weekend just to preserve that option," Higgins said. Public Health Nurse Trish McGeehan reported one new COVID-19 case for a town total of 37, seven probable cases via antibody testing, and no new cases at The Commons since May 24. The board voted 3-0 to declare June 9-10 Lincoln Public Schools Graduate Days and 3-0 to authorize up to six weeks of renewals for a Lincoln Garden Club welcome sign at Station Park. Members took no position on the contested school-funding and water department warrant articles.
