Planning Board dissolves SLIPIC, creates five-member SLIPAC of elected officials

LINCOLN — June 9, 2020 — Lincoln Planning Board dissolves SLIPIC and creates a slimmer five-seat successor of elected officials. The board voted June 9 to rename the committee SLIPAC — South Lincoln Planning Advisory Committee — and seat two Planning Board members alongside one each from the Select Board, Housing Commission and Finance Committee. The five-member composition passed 4-1, with Co-Chair Lynn DeLisi opposed after her bid for a seven-member committee with a resident and Conservation Commission seat failed 1-4. Zoning work on South Lincoln moves back to the full Planning Board, which Member Margaret Olson warned will mean meeting at least weekly: "It's a lot more meetings for all of us and not just two of us." Co-Chair Gary Taylor rejected adding stakeholder seats, saying "once we start putting vested interests on the committee, then we're really, really got a problem." Appointments will be made after the June 15 town election. The board also approved a 600-square-foot COVID-19 accessory classroom at The Birches School, 100 Bedford Road, as a minor change, and endorsed an ANR lot-line adjustment at 185 and 191 Western Road for owner Michael Feinberg.
