Lincoln Select Board names Craig chair, appoints new Council on Aging director
LINCOLN — June 22, 2020 — Lincoln Select Board rotates chair to Craig, appoints new COA director, allocates $500,000 Todd bequest. The board unanimously elected James Craig chair, succeeding Jennifer Glass, and appointed Abigail Butt as Council on Aging director succeeding retiring director Carolyn Bodum, whom Glass honored with the town's Bright Light Award. The board allocated the late Harriet Todd's $500,000 bequest as $225,000 for a scholarship, $255,000 for the Lincoln School auditorium renovation, and $20,000 to an eighth-grade tree fund. Police Chief Kevin Kennedy told the board Lincoln's use-of-force policy complies with the "8 Can't Wait" reforms and reported 10 use-of-force incidents since 2017 — five involving residents in mental health crisis. Town Administrator Tim Higgins said he will bring Parks and Rec Director Dan Pereira forward as assistant town administrator and Acting Deputy Chief Brian Young as permanent fire chief. Paula Vaughn was appointed acting planning director and Margaret Griffith reappointed to Parks and Recreation.
