Planning Board recommends ZBA approve art gallery, residence at 2 Lewis Street

LINCOLN — February 23, 2021 — Lincoln Planning Board endorses Lewis Street art gallery and queues spring bike-pedestrian pilot. The board voted 5-0 to recommend the Zoning Board of Appeals approve a special permit allowing a 1,400-square-foot art gallery and 900-square-foot residence on the lower level of 2 Lewis Street, owned by Christina Van Buren; Town Planner Paula Vaughn-MacKenzie said nine parking spaces cover a requirement of roughly 7.5 to 8, and septic capacity has been approved. Member Bob Domnitz called the project "a great case study of what's wrong with Section 10" of the zoning bylaw even as he voted yes. BPAC Chair Bob Wolf and member Ginger Reiner presented a one-year advisory-shoulder pilot for Ferro Road this spring, citing a 2019 survey in which 63 percent of 250 respondents said school routes feel unsafe for their children. Co-Chair Gary Taylor said TCB has been "amenable" to helping fund the Lincoln Mall septic study; the March 16 meeting will host a KP Law briefing on the new state MBTA-area multifamily zoning mandate.
