Planning Board sends two energy letters to Baker, reviews bike-pedestrian plan

LINCOLN — July 26, 2022 — Lincoln Planning Board signs onto two letters to Baker backing a stronger stretch code and a 10-town fossil-fuel opt-in. The board voted 5-0 on each, authorizing member Gary Taylor to finalize edits and the chair to sign before the next-day deadline. Select Board member Jennifer Glass said the opt-in should "truly give towns the opportunity to go with a full net zero code." Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee co-chairs Bob and Ginger walked the board through a roughly 60-project master plan developed with MAPC since 2019, including a multi-segment Mill Street-to-Bedford Road connection involving a wetland boardwalk and a Route 2 crossing improvement. Bob said Lincoln keeps DPW repairs within Chapter 90 funding and is falling behind on deferred maintenance, citing a Route 117 shoulder crack that hospitalized a cyclist. A draft tourist brochure by intern Ethan Payne was held over after members split on whether to include a printed map or a QR code.
